Principal kidswater is, to put it lightly, a very odd principal. It wasn’t a mistake, the school was intentionally built to be dangerous, but why? And more importantly, why are the students and teachers used to this and not do anything to make the school safer? Speaking of students and teachers, let’s take a look at… like in the wayside pilot movie, Mrs jewels was constantly throwing things out her classroom window just to teach the kids about gravity without even thinking how that “lesson” could’ve seriously hurt people at the school’s entrance. But what’s even stranger is that sometimes they’re the cause of most dangers. Maybe it’s because they’re so used to it and have found a way to get around. And what’s also weird is that the students and staff are aware of how the school is built but act like it’s no big deal. There are all kinds of building blunders and oddities, like one classroom has a very low ceiling where it’s impossible to raise your hand, a classroom that looks like a jungle, a bathroom with upside down toilets, the top hallway having grass, a hallway that’s like a huge tube for skating around, a floor where the wall is the floor and the floor, door and lockers are on the wall, but most of them are dangerous blunders like the outside of the building having wires and wooden boards holding it together, gaps in the stairs, a faulty elevator, a live shark in the swimming pool, glow guppies that nearly electrocuted the students to death in the field trip episode, no fire escape stairs outside the building, the 30th floor used to be a TRASH COMPACTOR that nearly kills Mrs jewels’ class and the wholeīuilding is held in place with a single piece of paper. Maybe they got that detail wrong about the school’s origin, or maybe the main builder took all the credit for building the school and everyone believed and recognized him as the solo builder.Īlso, it’s clear that wayside wasn’t exactly built like any other school should be aside from being 30 floors high. I find this a little far fetched because whenever a building is tasked to be made, it’s usually a whole team of builders doing the job instead of just one. But somehow someway, the construction worker who was tasked to build the school messed up and accidentally built the whole building the wrong way and have it be thirty floors tall with one classroom on each floor and that the builder apologized for the mistake. Hidden behind the walls of wayside is a culture of fear and lies and there’s something suspicious going on, but what? Well these questions will be tackled now, this is, the wayside school theory.Īnyone who’s read the books and watched the show knows that wayside school was originally supposed to be built like most other schools: one floor with thirty classrooms in a row. But Is there anything worth theorizing about this show and books? Some say “it’s just a kids show, nothing is supposed to make sense.” But I like a challenge. I searched everywhere and no one has bothered to make a theory about this show. HOW COME NO SCHOOL SUPERINTENDENT OR BUILDING INSPECTORS HAVE BOTHERED TO SHUT DOWN THE SCHOOL? WOULDN’T TODD’S PARENTS FIND IT SUSPICIOUS THAT THEIR SON ALWAYS GETS SENT HOME EARLY AND HOW COME THEY HAVEN’T DONE ANYTHING TO STEP UP? IS THERE ANY OTHER REASON WHY MRS JEWELS ALWAYS SENDS TODD HOME EARLY? WHY IS THE PRINCIPAL A PARANOID GOOF WHO’S AFRAID OF KIDS? WHY DOES MYRON DESPERATELY WANT TO BE CLASS PRESIDENT EVEN THOUGH HE’S INCOMPETENT AND DOESN’T EVEN KNOW WHAT A LIGHT SWITCH IS? WHY ARE THE TEACHERS AND STUDENTS ACTING AND DOING WEIRD AND DANGEROUS THINGS LIKE IT’S NORMAL TO THEM? WAS THERE AN INTENTION BEHIND THE CREATION OF THIS SCHOOL? WAS IT REALLY AN ACCIDENT THAT THE SCHOOL WAS BUILT THE WRONG WAY? The show has many questions that have bothered me like…. I used to watch it as a kid to pass the time but eventually I outgrew it and hated it for how weird, unfair and nonsensical it is, like how Todd gets sent home early on the kindergarten bus even though he’s just trying to be normal in a crazy school and how crazy and stupid many of the students and teachers are. It’s about a 4th grader named Todd who attends a school that’s thirty stories tall and full of weird and wacky surprises and he goes on misadventures and hi-jinx with his friends from Mrs Jewels’ class and various school staff. It’s based on the book series, “sideways stories from wayside school” by Louis sachar. Wayside is an animated series that lasted from 2007 to 2008. Before we get to the theory, let’s explain what we’re up against first.
